Very disappointed with repeated incorrect assessments
I am extremely disappointed with my experiences at Tiger Wheel & Tyre.
Previously, I took my BMW X1 to Tiger Wheel & Tyre due to a shudder. I was told that all four rims were buckled. Unsure of this diagnosis, I took the vehicle for a second opinion to a professional rim repair specialist, who confirmed that none of the rims were buckled.
More recently, I took my BMW 120d in for wheel balancing due to a very slight shudder at high speeds (120km/h and above). Once again, I was told that all four rims were buckled very badly and that balancing the wheels would supposedly make the problem worse in the long run. I was quoted R1,000 per rim, with each rim taking about 20 minutes to repair.
Despite being told the rims were severely buckled, the vehicle was otherwise driving smoothly with only a minor vibration at higher speeds. I then took the car to Supa Quick, where the wheels were simply balanced. Since then, the car has been driving perfectly smooth, even at higher speeds, with no shudder at all.
Based on these repeated experiences, I am seriously concerned about the accuracy and honesty of the assessments provided. It appears that unnecessary and costly repairs were recommended when a simple balance resolved the issue completely. I would strongly advise customers to seek a second opinion before proceeding with rim repairs suggested here.
