THE RED BULL BOX CART RACE

On 4 October 2026, BFGoodrich brought braai spirit, teamwork and a homemade cart to the Red Bull Box Cart Race on Sandton Drive in Johannesburg.

As an event partner and participating team, we joined a day of imaginative builds, gravity-powered racing and plenty of personality. It was a chance to bring “What Are You Building For?” to life in a distinctly South African way.

Our entry started with a familiar idea: the braai stand. A place usually associated with good food and time together became the inspiration for something built to roll.

The cart gave that South African favourite a playful new purpose, bringing our team together to turn a creative concept into a race-day entry.

From the stand to the starting line, the day was about building something different, sharing the experience and taking on a new challenge together.

Bring the energy

The team’s dancing and race-day enthusiasm added another layer to the build. Before the cart took on the course, there was time to show the people and personality behind it.

Those moments are part of what made the day worth sharing: a team coming together, giving it a go and enjoying the occasion.

With no engine to power the cart, the run put our homemade creation to the test on the downhill course. Our race ended sooner than planned, but the build and the teamwork were still an adventure to share.

Away from the course, visitors joined us at the BFGoodrich stand to be part of the day. The activation brought another side of the event into focus: the people, conversations and shared moments around the race.
